The older I get, the more attention I’m paying to my skin’s beauty routine. Gone are the days when my skin felt hydrated no matter how many parties I attended or how many times I slept with my makeup on. The latter is an absolute NO that results in dire consequences on my skin.
The problem I find with this time of year is my skin is bound to suffer somewhat. With a calendar full of holiday parties, a busier work schedule than ever, and the cold, dry winter air, how could it not?! Does this sound familiar? If it does, keep calm and read on.
From the time I turned 35 to my current age of 40, I’ve had set a pre-holiday beauty routine, and I’m more than happy to share with you all.
1. Preparation is everything
Two to three weeks before you know you have a party to go, start prepping your skin. It may sound like a huge amount of time to get started, but I think the extra time allows for the maximum benefits of any treatment you apply to your skin to really show. Plus, it acts as insurance, just in case your skin reacts negatively to anything you decide to do it.
2. Start eating healthy
It may sound like a cliché, but you really are what you eat. Try to eat lots of fruits, veggies, and omega-3 rich proteins, like salmon and fish. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water.
3. Clean your skin
Pamper yourself with a hydrating facial mask once or twice a week. Unfortunately, I don’t really have the time (or the money) to go to a spa, so instead, I light a candle, take a nice warm bath, and put on a hydrating mask for ten minutes. During the winter months, I often suffer from dry flakes and dull skin. I’ve been looking for a really good hydrating facial mask to combat my winter skin for ages, especially one that won’t break the bank. This Moisture Bomb Pomegranate Hydrating Tissue Mask by Garnier is perfection and it’s just under 3€! It seriously feels like a moisturizing veil of whipped air on my face. After ten minutes, my skin feels soothed, refreshed, and revived (check out my full review for Garnier Moisture Bomb Pomegranate Hydrating Tissue Mask).
